:star: Part 1 of my journey into Blender Internal :star:

:bulletorange:Resources needed for this tutorial;

:bulletorange:HDRi Pack 2 by ~zbyg

:bulletorange:Blender [link]

:bulletorange: Enclosed in the ZIP is the full tutorial, starter .blend file, and additional area/4-point light setup .blend file

This tutorial is aimed at beginners to moderate users. It is in no way definitive. It is intended to generate excitement for BI rendering, and show how, with a few tweaks here and there, you can get really wonderful renders from it.
NEVER SETTLE FOR DEFAULT :D

I really hope you like this, I worked really hard on it for you all.
Please enjoy, and please show me your results!! :D

This is what we are trying to make here:

:iconheadbang-plz::iconblender-plz::iconheadbang-plz:

If you download this file and start using this lighting setup for your own pictures, PLEASE leave a link back to here. DO NOT claim this as your own.

EDIT: Don't worry about the banding in the tutorial, it's just a shitty JPEG, the actual render is clean :D

:star: Check out this video, this is what inspired me: [link] :star:

Pretty cool. Thanks for the tips. :)

My HDRi mappings never work out.. they always pinch to some point in the scene, no matter what I do with the settings. :(

Welcome! Have you changed the spheres to AngMap or the long HDRIs to Equirectangular?

Great idea,But to set this all up is kind of hard :P ,Its all the more better if we just use an unbiased rendering engine to do all the nice jobs :D

The hardest thing to do here is set up the scene and the HDRI map, which takes about 4 seconds...and you would have to do that in an unbiased render engine anyway. It strikes me as a bit crazy if you think turning up the samples and softness on a light, checking off cubic interpolation on a material, and turning on dithering in the render settings is hard. :lol:

Exteriors are a different story of course, but if you follow these instructions you'll get no banding and a clean render every time :iconheadbang-plz:
