It's not pefect, but it's a step in the right direction. The whole idea is making a realistic interior without global illumination, and simulating it using direct lighting.

I highly recommend this interior lighting tutorial in which this guy tries to replicate a Vray render with Blender Internal. It's actually amazing :[link]

wow... :D
it's funny - we're just renovating our attic and looked for a fitting ground... we found something very similar to the one here on the picture (only to realize we couldn't afford it, haha) - it was sort of plastic stripes, but looking so very realistic that you feared of getting splinters in your finger by merely touching it... :D

Thanks! If you follow the link in my artist comments, the guy tries to reproduce a v-ray render with GI in Blender internal, which does not have GI. It's really amazing and will work in any render engine. You can get GI by merely using direct lighting :omg:
