Here's how to prepare your custom splashscreen !!! :lolly:
**ps ..sorry for my bad english**

Tutorial.

1 - Prepare the background image - Prepare one or more images you like, even with the custom of writing welcome. Images can be in. Jpg,. Png,. Tga. No need to have huge images. Screen 4 / 3 you can resize the image with a resolution of 1280x1024, but that's okay also 800x600. If you have a 16/10 screen you can use the previous images (which you'll see a little crushed), or use images with resolutions ranging from 800x525 to 1208x800. Obviously you can use any resolution but do not need to go beyond those listed. For customizing the image, you can use: GIMP easy with videoguides 2 - Position the image - After deciding which images to use, you have to enter into a system folder. Ubuntu normally does not allow the inclusion. We see then how.

Save images, ready, in the desktop.

Now, open Terminal (Applications / Utilities / Terminal). Just copy and paste the below command in terminal: sudo nautilus dates sent from the keyboard. You will be prompted for a password, so type carefully and in full (even if it seems that Ubuntu does not take it). Explorer opens the file with all permissions (root). Therefore been very careful. Follow this path: file system / home / username / Desktop File System can be found on the left file explorer (under Desktop). Instead, username is the one with which you log in and found that, even in the top right next to the icon to shutdown. Now copy the images you need (if you have one image, right click on it and choose Copy - If you have several images, please click on the first, hold down the Control key and keep clicking on others that show up, at the end with the pointer on any selected image, click and choose Copy Right - If you have several images, click on the first, hold down the Shift key (Shift) and click on the last, you can highlight and copy them all block).

Also after the explorer file with all the permits, bring in the desktop folder-based file systems / usr / share / images / desktop-base and paste images that you had previously, copied. Close all windows.

3 - Sets the image - You make the default picture (or pictures) that you entered in your desktop-base (paragraph 2). Open the terminal and paste the command: sudo gedit / etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme will open Gedit (text editor like Windows Notepad) that will display the contents of a file, whose initial part is shown in below Image: Grub Splah mofificare settings Down the line Wallpaper =, find the name of the image name. One enclosed in a red rectangle. In my example the image name is welcome-antonio.jpg. Replace the image with the name of your choice (you had inserted into the desktop folder-based). Attention, you must specify the extension (in this example. Jpg) and you must be careful not to delete the quotation marks end '. If you do not type your name, go to the desktop where you have a copy of the image, right-click on it and select Rename. Now copy the entire name, including extension and are ready to paste it into line WALLPAPER =. If you want to change the color of the menu you can save the edited file by clicking the icon, top left, Save and go to section 5. 4 - Change the color of the menu - Referring to the file represented by the image above.

In line COLOR_NORMAL = found the names of two colors. Those embodied in the red rectangle 2. In my example names are "yellow / black," or yellow / black. The first color will be written of the menu (yellow = yellow). You can watch the image of my custom splash (picture above). The second is relative to the background color. If you want to see the image having to leave black (meaning black). Indeed, the black is treated as transparent. If you choose another color, will be considered opaque, which will be adopted and will cover the background of the splash image is no longer visible.

In line COLOR_HIGHLIGHT = found the names of two colors. Those embodied in the red rectangle 3. In my example names are "red / light-gray," or red / light gray. The first color will be selected on the menu line (red = red). You can watch the image of my custom splash. The second color is on the white stripe that marks the selected row. If you want the strip is not visible (not recommended) just choose the color black (meaning black). Indeed, the black is treated as transparent.

Now you can make all tests you want. The name of the color must be entered in English and in lowercase. Here is a page that translates the name of the color into English: Italian-English Dictionary Do not use weird names because they might not be recognized. Instead, use names of basic colors.

5 - Making operational changes - After making changes to the file, described in the previous two points, you have to make them effective. Open the terminal and paste the command: sudo update-grub Wait the end of operations, since reappeared when the command line that ends with the $ sign. Close terminal and reboot your computer. You will have the new Grub Splash.

6 - To return to the original Ubuntu splash - Just proceed as indicated in paragraph 2 and empty the folder desktop-base (no longer containing images).

7 - To change the resolution of the splash - If you like the characters in the menu smaller (higher resolution), I refer you to the bottom of the page page (point 4): StartUp-Manager Summary At the Windows or Ubuntu - Copy images, already ready in the desktop. Open the terminal and enter the command: sudo nautilus This will open the File Explorer with all permissions (root). Follow this path: file system / home / username / Desktop and copy the images you need. Bring in the desktop folder-based file systems / usr / share / images / desktop-base and paste images that you copied. Close all windows.

B - Open the terminal and paste the command: sudo gedit / etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme At the bottom line = WALLPAPER, change the name of the image that you have chosen and inserted in your desktop-base. If you like, you can also change the name of the color of the menu you find in the two lines COLOR_NORMAL COLOR_HIGHLIGHT = and =. Save the edited file.

C - Open the terminal and paste the command: sudo update-grub Close terminal and reboot your computer. You will have the new Grub Splash.

D - If you want to return to the original Ubuntu splash, just empty the folder desktop-base (must not contain more images).
