thanks for the suggestions... i've seen work by someone who imports into vue using an alpha. would that be an alpha channel of a render, or is there an actual way of saving the chunk of the bulb in the render as an obj? i have both vue and bryce, so any suggestions for importing?
it was another artist describing this piece: [link] . you work with so many of these programs i thought you'd probably have the best insight on what she meant. me, i'm just lost... enthusiastically lost, mind you, but lost.
this is what i got back after straightforwardly pleading...
Hi,I rendered it in mandelbulb and saved it at as big as I could get it.(4000x3000) then in Vue I put it on an alpha sheet(in the shapes at the end)you open the alpha and choose the image from your files. Then I stretched and lit it. The hardest part is the shadows the objects create on the flat surface of the alpha. but its fun.Hope this helps
Oh I see. It appears he just put it on a plane in the background. It's not truly 3D, and the ship in there was made in SketchUp. I actually made a tutorial on how to do that, him just saying alpha threw me off, it's an alpha plane. [link]
