Overall, nice work. I'm unsure if the speckles on the rocks are noise, or if that's just the texture :/ It looks quite noisy. Also, it's quite obvious to the viewer that you took the same exact pile of rocks, and just rotated it by 90%. It's not a big scene, you could have atleast made different rocks for the second pile. I do like the image though
It's a noise texture on both the rocks and the sand. Although I did duplicate the rocks, I don't think it's blatantly obvious unless of course you work in 3-D programs. It's just a wallpaper, it's not in the Louvre Glad you liked it though! Thanks!
Been casually interested in Zen for years, myself, but that's as far as it goes.
Only possible criticism is that it looks a bit too perfect. Some random imperfections in the rocks might be an improvement.
There is a tutorial somewhere on making fractured shapes. Strikes me that it must use a script to generate the random fractures; an extension to that in the spirit of a fractal might give the effect I have in mind. If nobody has done that, I might have a go at it. I'm gonna need lots of random, irregular rocks for my video....
Thank you! I'm not even casually interested in it, just thought it would make a cool picture As for the rocks, in all of the pictures I looked at they were totally smooth, I just made each one a little different with some proportional editing. To make irregular rocks, all you have to do is add a texture displacement
[link][link] As for the displacement, just add a sphere or something, make a new material, go straight to the texture tab, add new texture. Then, go to the modifiers, add Displace modifier, choose the texture you just added Stop in the chat!
